Earlier this week, just in time for International Women's Day (8th March), Barbie introduced a series of new dolls based on real-life figures.

For a long time, Barbie has been seen as an inspirational character for young girls and the maker of Barbie, Mattel, sent out a survey to 8,000 mothers around the world and found that 86% are worried about the kind of role models their daughters are exposed to day to day.

Mattel have launched two separate series of Barbies: "Inspiring Women," based on historical figures, and new additions to its "Shero" line of dolls named for inspirational contemporary women.

We think this is great, don't you?
