Despite it being a host-less show, the 91st Annual Academy Award (Oscars) was three hours of smooth sailing and cringe less moments. The 2019 Oscars witnessed wins that made history. Forget about ladies’ fashion, because this year it was men who came to slay, they dominated the red-carpet serving us nothing but style.
The highlights of the night included 4 wins for Bohemian Rhapsody, 3 wins for Black Panther and 3 wins for Green Book, including it taking the title for best original screenplay. Rami Malek won his first ever Oscar for best Actor. “Ahh.., and thank you Lady Gaga” said Olivia Colman as she received an Oscar for Best actress, and with that line she delivered the best acceptance speech of the night.
The chemistry that Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga shared on stage while performing “Shallow” was so real that the camera had to pan to his wife in the audience. We felt it, which is why the song won for best original song.
BlackKklansman won best adopted screenplay, making it Spike Lee’s first Oscar. Best director was awarded to Alfonso Cuaron for Roma. Regina King also won her first ever Oscar for best supporting actress in the movie If Beale Street Could Talk, and Mahershala Ali won best supporting actor for his roles in Green Book.
We certainly found Melissa McCarthy and Brian Tyree Henry to be the most devoted presenters of the night.
Also didn’t you just wish that Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, and Amy Poehler’s were the actual hosts of the Oscars this year?
