Muscat – Oman Film Society (OFS) is taking part in the Red Sea Film Souk, being held in Jeddah from December 6 to 10, as part of its efforts to enhance the sultanate’s presence in regional and international cinema platforms and explore new avenues of collaboration with filmmakers and industry professionals.
The society’s pavilion is attracting notable interest from filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts, serving as an interactive space for exchanging experiences, discussing industry trends and exploring opportunities to advance cinema production in Oman.
Anwar al Ruzaiqi, Vice-President of OFS, said the participation aims primarily to promote the society’s key initiative, ‘Make Your Film in Oman’, designed to attract filmmakers to benefit from the sultanate’s rich geographical and natural diversity.
“Oman offers a wide range of filming locations capable of hosting major regional and international productions. During the souk, we are holding meetings with institutions specialising in film industry development and global festival organisers to identify collaboration opportunities and support the growth of Oman’s film sector,” Ruzaiqi added.
The society is also highlighting its Production Support Fund, outlining the facilities and resources made available as part of its broader mission to empower national filmmaking talent and foster a supportive creative environment.
OFS stressed that its participation in the Red Sea Film Souk aligns with its strategic vision to expand partnerships, promote Oman’s cinematic capabilities, and enhance the visibility of Omani cinema on the regional and global stage.
More than just a central hub for the film industry’s business exchange, the souk is a premier film market in the MENA region, showcasing and offering access to the best Arab, African and Asian talent and film projects.
