Oman launches appeal for Turkey and Syria

One of the most powerful earthquakes to hit the region in a century hit Turkey on Monday, 6th February around 4 am and hit a magnitude of 7.5 on the Richter scale. More than 8,000 people have been reported killed and tens of thousands of others injured. Thousands of buildings collapsed in the two nations and aid agencies are warning of “catastrophic” repercussions in northwest Syria, where millions of vulnerable and displaced people were already relying on humanitarian support.

The Omani Charitable Organisation has announced a donation drive for the relief of earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey.

The Omani Charitable Organisation is a licensed and reliable entity in the Sultanate of Oman.

 The Donations can be made through these modes:

1. Automatic payment machines of Oman National Engineering & Investment Company (ONEIC).

2. A donation of one OMR for each text message.

    Omantel users- Send SMS to the number 90022.
    Ooredoo users- Send SMS to the number 90909.

3. Donations can also be made via the electronic donation portal www.donate.om

The authority also announced account numbers designated for donations through Bank Muscat, National Bank of Oman and Bank Dhofar in the announcement.
