Snoop Dogg now owns 'Death Row Records'

Snoop Dogg is now the official owner of Death Row Records.

He issued a statement saying, quote, "I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value.

"It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members . . . I'm looking forward to building the next chapter of Death Row Records."

Death Row was founded in 1991 by Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, The D.O.C., and Dick Griffey.  Snoop joined in 1993, and released his debut album "Doggystyle" in November of that year.

He's releasing his new album "B.O.D.R." on Death Row.  (The title stands for "Back on Death Row".)

Snoop doesn't own the music rights to Death Row's catalog. . . but he's probably working on that.
