World Children's Day
World Children's Day is a day dedicated to children by children.
When? Sunday, 20th November.
Why? It is the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
How? To celebrate UNICEF asks people to turn blue... not as in by being sad... but use the colour blue.
Many monuments and landmarks around the world have turned blue such as Sydney Opera House, the Eiffel Tower in France, the Acropolis in Athens, Petra in Jordan and the Empire State Building NY.
This year in Oman; The Royal Opera House, Muscat, the airports in Salah and Muscat, Nizwa Fort and the Omantel building will light up blue. Many embassies are also participating by going digitally blue on the 20th such as the UK embassy, US, France, Turkey, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and more.
Unicef Oman is also planning a school takeover activity where kids can be the teachers for a full day and teachers will be students.
So why not get involved and dress in blue too!
