Barka – The “Barka Winter Nights” festival officially commenced at Barka Public Park, marking the start of a four-day cultural and economic showcase. Organised by the Office of the Governor of South Batinah, the event is scheduled to run until January 24. This initiative is part of a broader regional strategy to stimulate tourism, boost the local economy, and foster community engagement in alignment with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The festival takes advantage of the pleasant winter climate and the mid-year school holidays to offer a diverse range of activities for citizens and residents alike. The programme celebrates Oman’s rich heritage through a dedicated folk arts corner, featuring traditional performances such as Al Azi and Al Razha. These displays aim to strengthen national identity while providing a vibrant atmosphere for visitors.

In addition to cultural performances, the event includes a variety of interactive segments designed to support local talent and small businesses. A musical corner allows young artists to showcase their skills on instruments like the oud and violin, while an interactive theatre hosts competitions and magic shows. The festival also provides a vital platform for productive families to market their goods in a dedicated retail area. By combining entertainment with educational displays and theatrical performances, South Batinah continues to establish itself as a premier year-round destination for sustainable tourism.
