Muscat – The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the Republic of Korea launched a new book in Seoul marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries on Friday.
Titled Oman and Korea: 50 Years of Friendship, the joint Arabic–Korean publication documents the development of bilateral ties since the establishment of relations in 1974.
H E Zakaria bin Hamad al Saadi, Ambassador of Oman to Korea, said the volume “embodies the history of cooperation and the spirit of friendship that brought the two peoples together”. He expressed hope that the book would help open “new horizons for another 50 years of fruitful cooperation and joint progress”.
Lee Kyung Chul, Senior Representative for UN Security Council Affairs at the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and guest of honour, welcomed the initiative. He noted that the publication comes as the two countries mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and praised the embassy’s role in strengthening mutual understanding.
The book comprises six chapters featuring congratulatory messages from senior officials, a review of political and historical relations, and accounts by former ambassadors from both sides. It also covers cultural, artistic and educational exchanges, as well as contributions by institutions and companies involved in advancing bilateral cooperation.
The embassy stated that the launch represents a milestone in Omani–Korean relations, reflecting the partnership built over half a century and the commitment to further cooperation.
The ceremony was attended by officials from Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic corps, academics, cultural and media representatives, and executives from Omani and Korean companies.
