Salalah – The Royal Academy of Management (RAM) has launched a new round of interactive workshops in Dhofar as part of the national rollout of the One Team Initiative, a programme aimed at improving cooperation and performance across the civil service. A total of 540 employees from 13 government entities are taking part.
Dhofar is the second governorate to host the workshops after Muscat, where the programme began in late October. RAM plans to extend the initiative to all governorates over the next five years to strengthen integration and service delivery across government units.
The programme encourages civil servants to move away from routine, task-based work and adopt a broader sense of responsibility towards institutional and public outcomes. Its core activity, a one-day interactive workshop, uses behavioural science and human-centred design to help participants reassess the value and purpose of their work.
H H Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, said the initiative supports national efforts to advance administrative decentralisation and strengthen the role of governorates. He said it also reinforces a unified governmental approach, improves institutional performance and contributes to the priorities of Oman Vision 2040.
Dr Ali Qassim al Lawati, RAM President, said the Dhofar rollout signals progress toward building a national model in which all government entities operate as one team. “We aim to embed a common language, shared goals and a collaborative approach across all entities and governorates,” he said.
He added that the workshops in Dhofar will help maintain momentum as the initiative moves next to Musandam and North Batinah, before expanding to the remaining governorates. RAM is also running continuous evaluation and measurement processes to assess effectiveness.
Hilal al Riyami, Lead of the One Team Initiative, said the programme uses a unified methodology across governorates while allowing flexibility for local needs. The scale of the nationwide rollout, he said, required the adoption of digital tools to ensure efficiency.
According to RAM, 100 workshops will be delivered in the first year, involving 5,000 civil servants nominated by 19 government units. Along with the One-Day Workshop, the initiative includes a Train the Facilitators Programme, a national media and communications campaign and ongoing impact measurement.
RAM will also establish communities linking participants, unit heads, facilitators, media teams and 57 ambassadors from various institutions to help embed the programme’s principles into daily work and maintain engagement after participants complete the workshop.
