Muscat – The third edition of the Dhahirah Tourism Festival attracted around 420,000 visitors over a month-long programme held from January 8 to February 6, underlining its growing appeal as a key tourism and cultural event in the governorate.

The festival also recorded wide digital engagement, with social media interactions exceeding 23mn views, reflecting its expanded media reach and public interest across Oman and beyond.

The closing ceremony was held under the patronage of Tahir bin Mabkhout al Junaibi, Governor of Dhahirah, and was attended by H E Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with walis, members of the Majlis A’Shura and the Municipal Council, and representatives from government and private entities. Supporting institutions and partners were recognised for their contributions to the festival’s success.

Organisers said the festival delivered positive developmental and economic outcomes, creating opportunities for more than 200 jobseekers, supporting over 30 small and medium enterprises, and benefiting around 300 productive families. They said this reflected the event’s role in promoting entrepreneurship, local production and national talent.

The festival also helped stimulate tourism activity in Dhahirah, attracting visitors from within Oman and abroad. This contributed to increased hotel occupancy and higher demand for markets, restaurants and entertainment facilities.

In addition, the event highlighted the tourism and investment potential of Dhahirah governorate, reinforcing its position on Oman’s tourism map and supporting broader efforts to diversify the local economy through culture-led development.
