Muscat – Several government entities were recognised at the second edition of the Digital Excellence Awards in the Government Sector 2025, presented on Sunday evening by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
The awards ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Dr Said al Saqri, Economic Advisor at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, and coincided with the fourth edition of the Together Forward Forum, organised by the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers to boost engagement between government and society.
The awards covered five main and 17 subcategories. Royal Oman Police was awarded in the category for Institutions for the best performance in digital transformation. The Authority for Public Services Regulation, Oman Investment Authority and the National Centre for Statistics and Information were recognised for making qualitative leaps in excellence assessment.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Governorate of Dhofar and the Authority for Public Services Regulation were awarded for fulfilling the government’s commitment in information technology. ROP was also awarded for the best user experience for its mobile application.
In the Initiatives category, the Social Protection Fund won for best integrated digital initiative for its digital social protection system. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology received the award for best community participation initiative, while the Ministry of Health was recognised for innovation and use of advanced technologies for its artificial intelligence-based early detection of diabetic retinopathy project.
In Services, the Supreme Judicial Council won for best digital government service for individuals through video call service in the Tawtheeq platform. ROP was awarded best digital government service for the business sector for its security licensing platform.

In Competencies, the Governorate of Dhofar won best digital transformation team. Ahmed bin Sulaiman al Husseini, Head of the Digital Transformation Department at Environment Authority, was awarded for being the best leader in digital transformation and change management, while Omaima bint Salem al Qasimi from North Sharqiyah won most promising employee in digital transformation.
Oman Housing Bank won in the Independent Institutions category for digital development. Its CEO, Musa bin Masoud al Jadidi, won best leader in digital development and change management. Oman LNG received the award for best change management and digital capability project for automating processes using robotics.
Addressing the ceremony, H E Ali bin Amer al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology, said the awards recognise initiatives that have delivered measurable impact in government services.
He added that digital excellence supports Oman Vision 2040 by building an agile and innovative government sector.
