Acting on the Royal Order of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Muscat Governor Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidi on Thursday launched a new book titled The Al Busaidi State: From its Founding to the Era of Renewed Renaissance. The publication documents the formation of the Al Busaidi State and charts the development of modern Oman, underscoring its influence on national identity.

H E Dr Madiha bint Ahmed al Shaibani, Minister of Education, said the book, prepared by the ministry, serves as an important historical record linking current generations with the country’s past. She noted that successive Omani sultans strengthened state institutions, advanced economic activity and supported trade by building ports and enhancing maritime capabilities. Their policies, she added, promoted stability, encouraged cultural exchange and reinforced values of justice and dialogue.

She said the ministry continues to build an educational system that develops critical thinking and deepens awareness of Omani heritage. The launch of the book, she added, aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, which positions education as a core element of national development.

Dr Madiha urged teachers to encourage students to engage with the publication as a source of historical knowledge and civic values. She said such understanding contributes to national development and strengthens appreciation of the country’s heritage.

The launch coincides with National Day and reflects the ministry’s efforts to highlight the book’s cultural and educational importance. The volume covers more than 250 years of Al Busaidi leadership, beginning with its founder, Imam Sayyid Ahmed bin Said, and continuing through the current era under His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

The book outlines major domestic achievements and the evolution of Omani foreign relations during the dynasty’s rule. It introduces readers to the Renewed Renaissance led by His Majesty and provides an  overview of the lives and roles of the dynasty’s rulers. The ministry said the publication aims to broaden public understanding of Omani history and reinforce values of national belonging among students and wider community.
