Salalah – The inaugural Dhofar Marathon is scheduled to take place in November 2026, marking a significant milestone for sports tourism in the governorate.

The event will be held in partnership with Anantara al Baleed Resort Salalah. Located between the turquoise waters of the Arabian Sea and the Unesco World Heritage Site of Al Baleed, the resort provides a distinctive setting for the first Dhofar Marathon.

Designed to cater to runners of all abilities, the Dhofar Marathon will adopt a flexible and inclusive format. Participants will be able to compete individually or as part of relay and team categories, all leading to the iconic 42km marathon distance. Runners may complete the full marathon solo, participate in a relay format with two runners covering 21km each, or join a four-member team, with each runner completing 10.5km.

Organisers said the course is intended to highlight Dhofar’s natural beauty while inspiring values of resilience, unity and renewal with every step.
