Muscat – Eight-year-old Vashishth Pandey, a student of Indian School Muscat, has drawn attention for his ability to name all 195 countries and their capitals, identifying each nation by its flag.

Quiet and composed, Vashishth is known for his curiosity. His parents describe him as a quick learner with a strong memory. “He has always been curious about the world,” his father, Anant Dev Pandey, said. “We supported him by encouraging his interests and making learning enjoyable.”

His interest in geography began at home, guided by a mix of educational YouTube videos and discussions with his father. “Watching videos together sparked his interest. Once we noticed his ability, we helped him learn more and supported him throughout,” his father added.

His parents emphasise the role of technology in his learning, noting that it can be either helpful or harmful depending on use. For Vashishth, it has become a tool that broadens his understanding of the world from home.

His interests extend beyond geography. He enjoys football, crafts and chess, which he learnt from his elder sister. He also has a strong affinity for nature and animals, nurtured by family trips and time spent exploring the outdoors.

His talent has earned him the nickname ‘Google Pandey’ among friends, who admire his talent. Teachers have also expressed pride in his achievement and continue to encourage him. His parents say they value not only his skills but also the qualities they see developing in him: curiosity, calmness and a genuine love for learning.

Recently, he showcased his ability at Indian School Talent Fest 2025, which brought together students from Indian schools across Oman.

At a time when children have easy access to digital entertainment, Vashishth’s story highlights how curiosity, parental support and guided use of technology can inspire learning. His feat shows that with encouragement and focus, young learners can achieve remarkable milestones.
