Jabal Akhdar – The opening of Jabal Akhdar Festival 2025 and the Jabal Akhdar Media Forum will be held on Friday as part of efforts to promote tourism in the wilayat and increase media engagement in support of development goals.
The opening ceremony will be held at Celebration Square of Saih Qatna under the patronage of Sheikh Sabaa bin Hamdan al Saadi, Secretary-General of National Celebrations, in the presence of Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah.
The two events reflect Dakhliyah’s broader strategy to integrate government, community and media efforts in highli-ghting investment opportunities and development progress, in line with Oman Vision 2040.
The festival will run till August 30, offering cultural evenings, drone and laser shows, family activities and an open market featuring 65 small and medium-sized enterprises and ten local farmers. It will also generate 60 temporary jobs in logistics and event management.
The press forum will bring together more than 70 journalists from across Oman for a programme that includes a discussion session with the governor, visual presentations on key projects, and site visits to tourism and infrastructure developments, including the archaeological village of Al Sogara.
Officials said the two events aim to raise the profile of Jabal Akhdar as a model for sustainable mountain tourism and development. More than RO4.5mn worth of projects are currently underway in the wilayat, including roads, public facilities and service upgrades.
