Quriyat – Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has issued a strong cautionary notice regarding the Al Tahiri Cave, an environmentally sensitive site located in Quriyat.
The Ministry confirmed that the cave is not currently open for general visitation, and strict prior official authorisation must be secured before any entry is permitted. This measure is being enforced to safeguard the cave’s natural components and prevent potential damage resulting from irresponsible conduct in and around the site.
The notice specifically addressed tour operators, stating that licensed companies planning to conduct adventure tourism activities should submit a formal application to the Department of Product and Tourism Experience Development. This step is mandatory to complete all procedural requirements and obtain the necessary regulatory approvals.
Underscoring the seriousness of the directive, the Ministry issued a stern warning that any individual or entity found engaging in activities at the location without the proper permits will face legal accountability under the Sultanate’s prevailing laws and regulations. The action reinforces the government’s commitment to preserving the region’s natural heritage.
