Muscat – The Ministry of Education (MoE) has launched a new innovation-focused initiative titled the ‘First Muscat Educational Competition for Scientific Research and Innovation’, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of research and encourage both students and educators to embrace creativity and modern technological solutions within the educational environment.
The competition aims to strengthen research, analytical and critical thinking skills, while promoting the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence into teaching and learning practices, in line with global educational trends and the growing emphasis on innovation in schools.
The initiative features three main tracks: conducting scientific research on education and artificial intelligence; designing electronic applications that support educational and school administrative systems; and preparing analytical studies examining students’ behavioural changes in light of the influence of social media platforms.
The competition targets educational staff in both public and private schools across Muscat governorate, as well as employees of the Ministry and its directorates and departments, fostering healthy competition and the exchange of expertise across the education sector.
According to the announced timeline, participants can submit research abstracts and application proposals by March 28, while final submissions are due on June 28, 2026. Winners will be announced on August 30, 2026.
The ministry affirmed that entries will be evaluated by specialised committees, with outstanding projects to be recognised and selected initiatives potentially adopted for practical implementation, reinforcing sustainable innovation within the education system.
