Muscat – The Ministry of Health (MoH) has launched a nationwide campaign under the slogan ‘Prevention is Safety’, calling for collective action to combat infectious diseases and promote a culture of everyday prevention.
With the message ‘Let’s build a shield against infection’, the campaign emphasises that infection control is a shared responsibility – one that includes healthcare workers, patients, and visitors alike.
According to the MoH, the initiative aims to protect the most vulnerable groups in society, including children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
Simple daily practices – such as regular handwashing, maintaining personal hygiene, timely vaccination, and the correct use of personal protective equipment – remain the most effective ways to curb the spread of infection, the ministry stressed.
The campaign also highlights global health concerns such as antimicrobial resistance, underscoring the importance of consistent vigilance and preventive behaviour to safeguard public health in the long term.
“The commitment to infection prevention should not be confined to times of outbreaks,” the Ministry said. “It must become a daily habit and part of our way of life.”
