Khasab – Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) is preparing for a new tourism season in Musandam beginning November which will run for six months. The plan includes a series of initiatives aimed at offering visitors a quality experience and consolidating the governorate’s standing as one of Oman’s key tourist destinations.
Nawfal bin Mohammed al Kumzari, Assistant Director of the Department of Heritage and Tourism in Musandam, said preparations include increased field inspections of hotels, tourism establishments and operators to ensure compliance with approved standards and regulations. He said the measures seek to maintain high service quality for all visitors.
The ministry is also supporting promotional efforts for the ‘Winter in Musandam’ event, organised by Musandam Governor’s Office, to showcase the governorate’s natural and cultural heritage and attract more visitors during the season.
Kumzari noted that several tourism projects are underway to enhance infrastructure and encourage investment. Among these are the Visitor Centre in Dibba, designed to provide services and information about local heritage and nature sites, and the Ras Amoud Tourism Resort project in Khor al Hablain, which aims to offer a unique experience amid Musandam’s scenic surroundings.

He added that a new hotel project in Bukha will expand accommodation capacity to meet growing demand. Another major project, the Lu’luat Khasab (Pearl of Khasab) integrated tourism complex is being developed in partnership with Khasab Development and Investment Company (SANDAN). The project is expected to become a significant addition to Musandam’s tourism portfolio.
According to Kumzari, the ministry plans to introduce new tourism plots for investment and will soon begin maintenance and restoration work on Khasab and Bukha forts as part of efforts to preserve historical sites and enhance their tourism appeal.
In 2024, Musandam received 45 cruise ships carrying 58,267 passengers, while 17,413 visitors toured its forts and castles, reflecting steady growth in the governorate’s tourism activities and rising interest in its diverse attractions.
