Muscat – The Culture, Sports and Youth Department in Musandam has unveiled a comprehensive programme of cultural and sports activities for Ramadan, aimed at enhancing community engagement, promoting healthy lifestyles and reinforcing positive social values.
Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al Shehhi, Director of the Culture, Sports and Youth Department in Musandam, said the initiative reflects the department’s commitment to investing the spiritual atmosphere of Ramadan in ways that foster awareness, wellbeing and constructive participation across different segments of society.
He informed that the cultural activities include a Ramadan quiz designed to enhance general knowledge and encourage healthy competition among participants. An awareness lecture for men will address a range of social and religious themes associated with the holy month, while a dedicated health lecture for women will focus on nutritional guidance and wellbeing during Ramadan.

In recognition of the valuable role of senior citizens in society, the department will also organise a recreational day aimed at bringing joy and appreciation to older members of the community in a Ramadan setting marked by respect and solidarity.
In sports, the department is organising an eight-a-side football tournament for government institutions to promote teamwork and cooperation among employees. A football competition for young girls has also been scheduled to encourage grassroots participation and develop sports skills from an early age.
The Ramadan programme includes a women’s volleyball tournament and a women-only Lose Weight competition, aimed at encouraging the adoption of healthier lifestyles during the fasting month.
Al Shehhi noted that the Ramadan programme is part of the department’s broader efforts to revitalise cultural and sports activities in Musandam, create an enabling environment for community participation, and reinforce the role of public institutions in supporting social development during Ramadan.
