Muscat – Oman will host the inaugural Arab Women Researchers Forum starting November 30, bringing together scientists and academics from across the region to exchange expertise and discuss future research priorities.
Held under the theme ‘Arab Women Researchers towards the Future: Inspiring Experiences and Insightful Visions,’ the two-day event has been organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization’s Department of Science and Scientific Research, the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and University of Buraimi.
Officials said the forum reflects a commitment to strengthening the role of Arab women in advancing sustainable development through research and innovation. Organisers noted that women researchers across the region have demonstrated strong capabilities in scientific and intellectual fields and are active contributors to addressing development challenges.
The forum aims to expand cooperation among Arab women researchers, highlight successful research experiences, and support women’s participation in science, technology and innovation. It aligns with the Arab Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology and Innovation by encouraging greater involvement of women in research institutions and in shaping national and regional science policies.
It will showcase Oman’s efforts to support Omani women researchers and their achievements in regional and international forums, reflecting progress in the sultanate’s research and innovation sectors.
The programme will include nine scientific and dialogue sessions over two days. Discussions will cover sustainable development, the green economy, artificial intelligence, innovation and healthcare, besides perspectives on research from the viewpoint of female scholars, culture and the media. Additional sessions will address the future of higher education, the role of Arab women researchers, and ways to strengthen networks with research communities abroad.
The forum will conclude with a session outlining key recommendations.
