Muscat – Oman will host the Gulf Cinema Festival 2025 from November 16 to 19 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
The festival will showcase 26 Gulf films competing for nine awards across categories including feature, short, and documentary films.
H E Sayyid Said Sultan al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Culture, said the event supports the goals of Oman’s Cultural Strategy 2021–2040, which aims to strengthen the nation’s cultural leadership and enhance regional collaboration in the arts.
He described the festival as a key platform for promoting Gulf cinema, fostering artistic exchange, and highlighting the shared cultural identity of the region through film.
H E Busaidi added that the initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment to developing creative industries and empowering youth to contribute to a cinema movement that represents the realities and aspirations of Gulf societies.
Awards will be presented in nine categories: Best Feature Film, Best Documentary Film, Best Short Film, Best Original Score, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Cinematography.
The festival is expected to draw leading Omani and Gulf artists, filmmakers, writers, and media professionals, alongside regional and international cinema enthusiasts.
