Ibra – North Sharqiyah announced the results of the first edition of the Architectural Innovation Award on Wednesday during a forum to evaluate development initiatives and design proposals for the wilayats of Ibra, Mudhaibi, Bidiyah and Sinaw.
In Ibra, Reflection Project and Ibra Corridors shared first place for the wilayat’s entrance design. In Mudhaibi, the Smart Oasis project won first place for its main entrance proposal.
For Bidiyah, two projects – Bidiyah Window, an adventure park featuring a museum and traditional souq, and Murtahal, a desert resort with an open theatre and souq – were declared joint winners. In Sinaw, Green Path, a green walkway, and Sinaw Souq, a modern-traditional blend market, shared the top prize.

Mahmoud bin Yahya al Dhahli, Governor of North Sharqiyah, described the award as “a qualitative step towards adopting modern urban solutions that enhance the governorate’s position as a promising tourist and investment destination and open the way for young people to actively contribute to development”.
He added that the winning designs will reshape the urban landscape, generate investment opportunities, and create vibrant public spaces that reflect local heritage while supporting social and cultural identity. “This will position North Sharqiyah as a leading model in adopting innovative and sustainable architectural solutions,” he said.
The Architectural Innovation Award aims to harness youth creativity and employ sustainable designs to enhance wilayat entrances and public spaces. Designated sites have been allocated for the winning projects, which will later be offered for investment, providing opportunities for the private sector and local communities.
