Ibri – Ministry of Health has officially inaugurated a new peritoneal dialysis unit at Ibri Hospital. The ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Saeed bin Harib al Lamki, Ministry of Health’s Undersecretary for Health Affairs, in the presence of several senior officials from the governorate.

The newly established unit, which covers a construction area of 128 sqm, was completed at a total cost of RO 65,000. The project was funded by Daleel Petroleum as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives. Built according to the latest approved technical standards for modern dialysis facilities, the unit is equipped with advanced medical technology designed to reduce the hardship faced by patients who previously had to travel long distances for treatment.

Dr Ahmed bin Saeed al Kalbani, Director General of Health Services in Dhahirah, emphasised that the unit is a vital addition to the region’s medical infrastructure. It aims to improve the quality of therapeutic services and provide advanced care for patients residing in the wilayats of Ibri, Dhank, and Yanqul. Furthermore, Dr Dalal al Ghafri, Director of Ibri Hospital, noted that the facility includes dedicated training rooms for peritoneal dialysis, ensuring that patients and caregivers receive the necessary education for home-based care.

This project aligns with the Ministry of Health’s broader strategy to expand specialised services across the Sultanate and bring medical facilities closer to residential communities. By enhancing the quality of healthcare and responding to the specific needs of citizens and residents, the initiative supports the comprehensive health development goals outlined in Oman Vision 2040, which prioritises community health and well-being.
