Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Oman has successfully registered four of its most significant historical landmarks on the Islamic World Heritage List. This milestone was reached during the 13th session of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) Heritage Committee, which is currently taking place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism represented Oman during the proceedings, which saw the addition of 117 cultural elements and sites from 16 different Islamic nations.

The newly listed Omani sites include Al Hazm Fort, Jabreen Castle, Harat Al Sibani, and Harat Al Yaman. These locations were selected for their profound historical and architectural importance. Al Hazm Fort and Jabreen Castle are regarded as premier examples of defensive and administrative architecture, showcasing the ingenuity of Omani engineering. Meanwhile, Harat Al Sibani and Harat Al Yaman provide a glimpse into the traditional urban fabric and the historical evolution of Omani settlements.
