Muscat – The Ministry of Information on Tuesday hosted an event at the National Museum titled ‘A Cultural Heritage Extending Between Oman and the World’, bringing together 59 media professionals from 20 countries to highlight the sultanate’s cultural depth and longstanding global engagement.
The programme outlined Oman’s historical trajectory and cultural achievements, emphasising the values that define the Omani identity and the country’s steady role in strengthening regional and international cooperation.
A dialogue session addressed six themes: historical diplomatic relations; maritime heritage and the logistics sector; openness to the world through cultural, commercial and civilisational exchange; historical trade routes; the symbolism of Oman’s promotional identity; and investment in archaeological sites in Oman and Zanzibar as part of a shared heritage.

The session drew specialists and experts in history, diplomacy, heritage and intercultural communication, along with representatives of international media outlets. Speakers discussed Oman’s role in regional and global affairs and its long-standing engagement with diverse cultures.
Abdel Moaty Abu Zeid, advisor to the chairperson of Egypt’s State Information Service for foreign media, said Oman’s present is firmly rooted in its history, noting that Omanis have long interacted with other civilisations while upholding the values that define their identity. He added that Oman has maintained continuity in its civilisational path, guided by historic maritime links and a diplomatic approach respected by the international community.
He noted that Omani diplomacy remains committed to peace and follows an independent course that safeguards national interests while contributing to stability and prosperity for other nations. The diverse international participation, he said, reflects Oman’s position as a hub of cultural exchange and dialogue.
