Muscat – Oman is set to host the Horseback Archery World Cup Group 2 qualifiers from October 26 to 30, 2025 at Al Rahba Farm in Barka. The event, organised by Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation (OERF) under the supervision of the World Horseback Archery Federation (WHAF), marks the first time the sultanate will host this international competition.
A total of 28 riders from seven countries — the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt and Syria, besides Oman — will compete for qualification to the World Cup finals. Participating delegations will begin arriving on October 26, with October 27 set aside for the horse draw and trial sessions. The tournament will be held over three consecutive days, with competition rounds scheduled for October 28, 29 and 30.
The qualifiers will feature three distinctive tracks — the Kasai track, the Plate track and the Chain track — each designed to test the riders’ accuracy, speed and skill in archery while on horseback.
In conjunction with the competition, OERF will host an international refereeing course on October 24 and 25 under WHAF supervision. The course aims to enhance the skills of Omani referees and support their certification at the international level. Several international referees will attend to obtain their second-level badges.

Hamood bin Ali al Nasri, Secretary-General of OERF, said hosting the event marks a milestone in Oman’s efforts to advance equestrian sports and revive traditional disciplines such as horseback archery. “This is the first time Oman will be hosting the Horseback Archery World Cup qualifiers,” Nasri said. “It is a valuable opportunity to enhance our equestrian heritage and encourage Omani riders to embrace this unique sport.”
He added that the national horseback archery team is currently undergoing an intensive training camp in preparation for the qualifiers. “We wish our team great success in the competition and hope they secure qualification to the World Cup finals,” he said.
Nasri also expressed confidence that the event would serve as a platform for cultural exchange and technical development, helping elevate the standard of horseback archery in Oman and across the region.
