Muscat – Ministry of Social Development and the Association for Children with Disabilities have signed a memorandum of cooperation to strengthen social capital, promote inclusion, and raise awareness about disability issues in the sultanate.
The agreement, signed on Sunday by H E Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, and Khadija bint Nasser al Saati, Chairperson of the association’s board of directors, focuses on enhancing training, scientific research, and innovation in the field of disability support.
The memorandum seeks to empower members of civil society organisations by developing their leadership and administrative skills, while also encouraging greater participation of people with disabilities in leadership roles and economic empowerment programmes.
It further aims to support research and studies related to disability issues and organise joint events – including conferences, seminars, and workshops – to promote community awareness and foster a culture of inclusion.
According to the ministry, the signing reflects its ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with civil society organisations and build effective collaborations that contribute to integrating people with disabilities into all aspects of life.
