Nizwa – A rare showcase of Royal automotive heritage opened last week at the Oman Across Ages Museum, offering visitors a close view of some of the sultanate’s most iconic and historically significant vehicles.
Held in cooperation with the Royal Cars Museum, the exhibition was inaugurated under the patronage of Sheikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah.
The display brings together an exceptional collection of classic, sports and luxury cars associated with Oman’s modern history. Many of the vehicles hold deep national value, reflecting milestones in the country’s development and the legacy of its leadership.
Eng Al Yaqdhan Abdullah al Harthy, Director General of the Oman Across Ages Museum, said the exhibition highlights rare models selected for their historical importance and their place in the Omani collective memory.
He said the museum aims to offer an engaging, interactive experience that helps visitors understand the stories behind these cars and their role in Omani history. He also praised the cooperation with the Royal Cars Museum in bringing the event to life.
Yasser Abdulaziz al Farsi, Head of the Royal Cars Museum, said seven vehicles are featured in this inaugural showing, including a custom-made Morgan manufactured in 1957. “The goal is to introduce the public to the diverse and rare cars maintained by the Royal Cars Museum, some of which were built with special specifications,” he said.
Showcasing select vehicles usually housed at Al Barakah Palace, the exhibition marks the first time the Royal Cars Museum has presented its collection to the wider public in this manner.
The exhibition remains open until December 9, with visiting hours aligned with the museum’s schedule from 9am to 9pm. A large number of visitors turned out during the National Day holiday.
