Muscat – H H Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, has officially inaugurated the Arab Shooting and Airgun Championship in Muscat on Saturday.
Hosted by the Sultanate of Oman and organised by the Oman Shooting Association, the opening ceremony at Al Shafaq Club featured a sophisticated blend of Omani heritage and modern visual presentations. During the event, the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) announced the establishment of a new global tournament, the “Sultan of Oman International Open Shooting Cup,” in recognition of Oman’s advanced standing in the global sporting arena.
The championship features 141 shooters from 14 Arab nations competing in 17 diverse events at the National Olympic Shooting Complex until December 25. This prestigious gathering underscores Oman’s readiness to host international sporting events while fostering regional cooperation and excellence within the shooting community.
