Muscat – Royal Oman Police (ROP) has announced that the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations has initiated formal legal proceedings against a woman of Asian nationality following the publication of offensive content online.

The individual was apprehended after she shared a video on social media platforms that depicted her insulting and disparaging the Omani currency. Authorities monitored the footage, which showed conduct deemed disrespectful to the national legal tender, leading to swift identification and subsequent legal measures. The police reaffirmed that such actions are subject to strict legal accountability to maintain respect for national symbols and the sovereignty of the state’s currency.
