Beyhive, have you seen this?
Beyoncé is facing legal trouble over visuals used in her new Cowboy Carter tour.
During the show, a video sequence features a giant Beyoncé towering over the Las Vegas skyline, picking up and interacting with the Sphere concert venue. But according to the Sphere’s parent company, that footage was never authorised.
Lawyer Kathleen McCarthy, representing Sphere Entertainment Group (SEG), sent a cease-and-desist letter to Beyoncé’s production company, Parkwood Entertainment. She claims the use and alteration of the Sphere’s image in the tour visuals were never authorised. In the letter, McCarthy wrote, “Beyoncé — many orders of magnitude larger than the Sphere — leans over, picks up the venue, and looms over it.” She added that the footage has sparked “significant speculation” about a possible future residency, which SEG never confirmed.
The letter demands that Parkwood immediately stop using the Sphere’s image in any show visuals, merchandise, marketing, or tour films. If not, legal action.
