Back in September, Macklemore shouted "Free Palestine" and delivered a pro-Palestinian speech during his opening set on Ed Sheeran's U.S. stadium tour at MetLife Stadium. Disappointingly, venue owners and promoters subsequently removed Macklemore from the remainder of Sheeran's tour.
Following this incident, Macklemore pledged his $1 million earnings from the Sheeran tour directly to organisations supporting Palestinians and organised a Free Palestine Tour featuring charity concerts to raise funds for Palestinian relief and advocacy organisations.
Macklemore has been a fantastic advocate for Palestinian people and previously released the song ‘Hind’s Hall ’, where all the proceeds from the single went to helping those suffering in Palestine.
Another celebrity who has also been great at spreading awareness is actor Mark Ruffalo, who sent a video to Macklemore to be played on the big screens during the concert. He said: “There will be no peace until there’s equality.”
