Muscat – Bollywood film Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, will not be release across the GCC, including Oman, after the film failed to get the clearance due to concerns over its political positioning.
The film also features Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
When contacted, Star Cinema in Ruwi confirmed the development, stating that the movie would not be released in Oman. A spokesperson noted that the cinema follows guidelines issued by local authorities and regional committees responsible for content review. “We have been informed the film is banned across the GCC, so it will not be showcased here,” the spokesperson said.
According to the Indian media, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have not released Dhurandhar. ‘There were apprehensions that this would happen as the film is perceived as an ‘anti-Pakistan film’. In the past too, such films have failed to procure a release in the region. The team still made an attempt, but none of the countries approved the film. That’s why Dhurandhar hasn’t been released in any of the Gulf territories.”
Released on December 5, the high-octane spy thriller is directed and written by Aditya Dhar.
