Muscat – Karwa Motors has clarified against reports circulating on social media about the stoppage of one of its school buses on a steep road, rejecting claims that its fleet is unable to operate on inclines.

In a statement, the company said its school buses have demonstrated strong technical capability and operational readiness since entering service, supported by documented field tests conducted at several locations across the sultanate.

Karwa said its after-sales service team visited the site immediately after the incident was reported. A field inspection was carried out in the presence of the bus driver and several parents, during which the vehicle was tested ascending and descending the slope more than six times. The company said the inspection confirmed there was no technical fault and that the bus performed efficiently despite the steep gradient and road conditions.

The company added that an official field test was conducted on December 10 in Shanah village, Al Qabil in the presence of representatives from the Education Directorate in North Sharqiyah, along with Karwa’s technical team. During the test, the bus climbed the incline steadily, stopped safely midway and resumed its ascent smoothly, with no signs of mechanical issues.

Karwa stressed that the incident referred to in social media did not reflect the overall performance or technical readiness of its fleet. It reaffirmed its commitment to regular inspections, field evaluations and strict adherence to safety and quality standards for school transport.

On December 14, the company conducted an additional performance test on the Amerat–Bausher mountain road in Muscat, one of the capital’s steepest routes. Karwa said the bus completed the ascent smoothly, maintaining stability and full control throughout the test.

The company thanked parents and members of the community for their cooperation and reiterated that student safety remains its highest priority.
