Muscat – North Sharqiyah has announced the launch of the North Sharqiyah Award for Manufacturing Industries, an initiative designed to promote innovation, support promising industrial projects and encourage the adoption of modern manufacturing technologies.
The award, which offers prizes totalling more than RO7,000, reflects the governorate’s commitment to strengthening the local industrial ecosystem and empowering Omani talent in line with the objectives of Vision 2040.
Officials emphasised that the award serves as a platform to uncover emerging industrial talent and to inspire young entrepreneurs to transform their ideas into viable manufacturing ventures. It is also seen as a strategic tool to stimulate economic diversification and expand the governorate’s base of competitive, value-added industries.
The award aims to stimulate sustainable solutions in manufacturing, enhance the competitiveness of local industries and help create new economic opportunities for young people in the governorate. It also supports efforts to develop national skills and foster projects that can contribute to economic growth.
The competition is open to residents of North Sharqiyah across three age groups. Participants aged 15 to 19 will compete for prizes of RO300 for first place, RO200 for second and RO100 for third.
The second category, which covers ages 20 to 35, offers RO1,000 for first place, RO600 for second and RO400 for third.
The third group, for ages 36 to 50, awards RO2,000 for first place, RO1,500 for second and RO1,000 for third.
Eligible projects must fall within one of the manufacturing fields identified by the governorate, covering food and agricultural industries, light industries, construction-related manufacturing, packaging, recycling or technology-based industrial applications. These sectors, officials noted, represent key areas with strong potential to drive innovation and job creation in the governorate.
