Muscat – The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has introduced a comprehensive package of exemptions to help individuals and businesses settle outstanding violations under the Land Transport Law and its executive regulations, covering all fines incurred before February 18, 2025.
Under the initiative, individuals – including taxi owners and light transport vehicle operators – will receive a 100% waiver on all accumulated fines. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will benefit from a 70% exemption, with the remaining amount payable in six monthly instalments. Large companies will receive a 50% waiver, and will also be permitted to settle the outstanding dues in six instalments.
MTCIT stated that the programme aims to ease financial pressures on transport operators and encourage them to regularise their status without delay. The ministry added that SMEs and large companies whose activities have been cancelled or whose commercial registrations have remained suspended for at least one year will have all fines fully cancelled.
The decision is seen as a major step towards stabilising the sector, offering long-awaited financial relief to thousands of operators across the sultanate. By providing full or partial waivers and flexible payment options, the initiative removes barriers that have hindered compliance, supports business continuity and improves overall sectoral performance.
It is expected to enhance market stability, improve regulatory adherence, and contribute to a more organised and efficient land transport ecosystem aligned with Oman’s broader economic objectives.
