Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Rwanda on Sunday signed four agreements and cooperation programmes aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in logistics, technology and aviation.

The agreements cover logistics services, dry ports and supply chains, data centres, cloud computing, artificial intelligence projects and services, infrastructure development, and enhanced air connectivity between the two countries.

The first agreement focuses on cooperation in logistics services, including the development and operation of dry ports and supply chain services, with the aim of supporting logistical integration, exchanging expertise and building capacity.

The second agreement seeks to enhance cooperation in data centres, cloud computing, infrastructure and AI projects and services, including capacity building, skills development, knowledge exchange, and support for related policies and legislation.

The third agreement provides for enhanced air connectivity through the launch of direct Oman Air flights between Muscat and Kigali. The move is expected to facilitate travel and support trade and tourism, while strengthening ties between Oman and the African continent. Flights are planned to operate twice weekly from June 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

The fourth agreement includes a memorandum of understanding between the Rwanda Development Board and Oman Airports to enhance cooperation in airport development and management, exchange expertise and explore joint investment opportunities in the aviation sector and related infrastructure.

H E Saeed bin Hamood al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, said the agreements align with Oman’s strategy to expand international partnerships in transport, logistics and information technology, with a focus on East Africa.

He said the cooperation would enhance collaboration in land transport, dry ports, airport ground handling, investment and the exchange of expertise, adding that the direct flights would open new horizons for cooperation between the two countries.

H E Mawali added that the agreements also create opportunities for cooperation in digital government and data centres, reflecting the strength of bilateral relations and the commitment of both countries to expanding economic and technological cooperation.
