Muscat – A Ramadan campaign aimed at supporting 100 low-income families was launched in Muscat last week, with organisers stating that nearly 500 individuals are expected to benefit from the initiative.
Led by Shaandar Bukhari, Welfare Director of Pakistan Social Club Oman (Interim Committee), the campaign will distribute food boxes containing 16 essential items. Each box is designed to meet the needs of a family of five throughout the holy month.
The initiative was first launched in 2019 by the late Syedzada Sakhawat Ali Shah Bukhari and is being continued by his son, Shaandar.
The campaign launch was marked by a prayer gathering at Shaandar’s residence, attended by the H E Sayed Naveed Safdar Bokhari, Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman, along with members of the Pakistani community. Among those present were Chaudhary Abbas, former Director of Pakistan Social Club Oman, and Usman Lakhan, Director of Events at the club.
Speaking at the launch, Shaandar said the drive reflects the humanitarian values associated with Ramadan. He noted that assistance is extended to families in need regardless of religion. “Our experience has shown that need is universal, and support should be offered without distinction,” he said.
He thanked donors and volunteers involved in the distribution process, stating that the campaign relies on community contributions and coordinated efforts to reach beneficiaries.
The organisers said the programme aims to provide food security and ease financial pressure on vulnerable families during Ramadan, while reinforcing the spirit of charity and community support associated with the holy month.
