Rustaq – A meeting was held on Monday to review a number of service and development projects currently being implemented as well as those being planned in Rustaq, South Batinah.
The meeting was chaired by Masoud bin Said al Hashmi, Governor of South Batinah, in the presence of several officials of the governorate.
Ali bin Hassan al Mujaini, Director of the Projects Departme-nt at South Batinah Municipality, made a visual presentation highlighting the main development initiatives across the tourism, economic and service sectors.
Mujaini explained that the first phase of the waterfalls area development in Al Hawqayn has been completed, while the second phase of the Ain al Kasfa project has reached 80% comple- tion. Work on the Rustaq Gate development and beautification project is progressing steadily, with 40% completed so far.
In the markets sector, both Rustaq Market – known locally as Souq Abu Thamanya – and the Central Fruit and Vegetable Market have been completed, while the second phase of the Tawi al Hara Market has reached 95% completion.
The projects include installation of passenger shelters and se-rvice kiosks in several locations, along with maintenance of roun-dabouts and beautification of main streets, aimed at enhancing the urban landscape of Rustaq.
Several community parks have been established within residential neighbourhoods, with current average completion rate of 10%. Modern irrigation systems have been installed alongside walking paths in parks. The main entrance to Al Hazm has also been upgraded.
The Al Hawqayn–Milli Road has reached 95% completion, and 40km of internal roads have been paved – representing 60% of the total project – taking the total length of completed roads in the wilayat to around 97km. In addition, 1,723 lighting poles have been installed to enhance road safety.
